Nikkor DX 18-200mm VR Verdict

By delivering a focal range equivalent to 27-300mm, the Nikkor DX 18-200mm VR is an enormously flexible lens. Its massive 11.1x zoom range allows you to capture both wide landscape shots and decent close-ups of distant subjects such as wildlife just moments apart without worrying about carrying additional lenses.

This convenience cannot be underestimated and by having a lens which may rarely (if ever for some people) be removed, you’ll also minimise the risk of dust entering the camera body. It’s a highly compelling proposition, which is made all the more useful by effective image stabilisation facilities.

The inclusion of VR, along with quick and quiet focusing, superior build quality and a slightly faster focal ratio when zoomed-in makes the Nikkor DX 18-200mm VR worth spending the extra over its rivals from Sigma and Tamron (pictured left middle and bottom). It’s a very classy lens and reason for many to buy into the Nikon system in the first place. It therefore comes Highly Recommended to any Nikon D-SLR owner who only wants to carry a single lens for all occasions.
